Recently, the 52-year-old “High School Never Ends” singer explained what the band name means. A fan had asked: “Are you bowling to get soup or bowling on behalf of soup?”
To which, he quipped: “Since it is actually our job, we are bowling to earn soup. Although, if soup ever needed us we would bowl on it’s behalf.”

The name reportedly originated from the 1978 Steve Martin comedy special, A Wild and Crazy Guy. In a clip of it, he said the phrase “bowling for s***” that the foursome adapted into Bowling for Soup.
Despite the explanations he had given, many TikTok fans still had questions. One user jokingly asked: “What KIND of soup are you bowling for? Chicken Noodle?” and Jaret had the perfect response.
In a video, which has gained more than 102,000 likes, he responded by opening a kitchen cupboard that was full of packets of Grace Soup Mix, which feature the word “C**k” in huge letters on the front, referencing it’s chicken flavouring. The packets costs just 75p each in supermarkets like Sainsbury’s and Tesco.
Viewers were left howling over the joke as they took to the comments to praise the singer for his humour. One user said: “Man has been ready for this joke, and I love him for it.”
Another quipped: “Nice, c**k,” while a third wrote: “You made the music of my childhood. Thank you Soup Man.” Meanwhile, someone else joked: “I’m not mathemagician, but I’m pretty sure you can write that off as a business expense now.”
