Channel 4 pull The Simpsons episode eerily similar to Trump assassination attempt

It looks like The Simpsons have ‘predicted’ yet another historical event – and it appears Channel 4 had to step in this time.

After Donald Trump was nearly assassinated at a rally yesterday, people have already questioned the possible psychic powers of the writers of Matt Groening’s cartoon show.

Although an animated image in The Simpsons style has already been debunked earlier today, it now looks like Channel 4 had to pull a particular episode from today’s schedule supposedly due to it mirroring the dramatic events that occurred in Pennsylvania, US.

Eagled-eyed X, or Twitter, user @ropestoinfinity spotted that there had been a sudden change to Channel 4’s TV schedule this afternoon.

Social media users are saying that the ‘pulled’ The Simpsons episode is similar to what unfolded in America yesterday

The avid TV fan wrote: “Wondered at first why Channel 4 just pulled the scheduled broadcast of ‘Lisa The Iconoclast’, but I think I get [it].”

They attached a still from season 7, episode 16 titled ‘Lisa The Iconoclast’ which depicts a sniper-armed man on a roof pointing his gun towards a stage where schoolgirl character Lisa was giving a speech.

It struck an uncanny resemblance to the events that unfolded in the US where Donald Trump was giving a speech before a roof-top gunman fired shots at the former president, hitting him in the ear.

But, it looks like that’s not the only striking similarity that social media users have picked up on and, presumably, Channel 4 did too hence the schedule change.

The episode description reads: “Lisa finds out that Springfield’s founder was a murderous pirate who tried to assassinate George Washington, and decides her fellow citizens should know the truth.”

Following the plot of the episode, the original poster of the still speculated: “Just to add to this that Jebediah Springfield trying to kill George Washington is also a major plot point in the episode.

“So it might have been pulled because of that without anyone remembering this specific sniper scene.”

In the episode, the gunman admitted he could ‘pick her off’ after waiting for orders from the fictional Springfield mayor who stood beside him on the roof.

Although, the shifty official told him to wait and let Lisa speak as she nervously debated whether to tell the truth after researching town ‘hero’ Jedediah Springfield. Lisa eventually caved in and decided to hide the ‘truth’ leading the sniper to hold fire.

While Channel 4 seemingly amended their schedule with episode ‘Baby You Can’t Drive My Car’, TV guide Radio Times still have the spookily similar ‘Lisa The Iconoclast’ in the broadcaster’s 1pm slot from today.

Daily Star have contacted Channel 4 for comment.
