Charlotte Church has blasted Kelsey Grammer over comments he made when she was a teenager.
The singer, now aged 38, slammed the Frasier actor, 69, saying he was “weird” when the pair first met. She went on to describe him as being “caustic” and “horrible” from the moment they first interacted with each other.
It was revealed that Charlotte and Frasier first met when she sang at George W. Bush’s first inauguration as President in 2001. Kelsey, famed for his appearances in shows such as Cheers and The Simpsons, was also invited to attend the ceremony, watched by millions of spectators across the world.

At the time, Charlotte was aged just 14 when she met Kelsey and initially things were pleasant. However, things soon took a turn when he made references to his “young girlfriend”, who was unable to attend due to falling ill.
Reflecting on her interaction with the actor on Richard Herring’s Leicester Square Theatre podcast, Charlotte admitted that before meeting him, she was an avid fan of Frasier. But after the couple had met, she blasted him for being a “f***ing d*****bag”.
Looking back on the encounter, Charlotte fumed: “Yeah, I sang for President Clinton a couple of times and I sang for President Bush a couple of times, including for his inauguration, which was weird. And at this point, like I wasn’t politically active – that took a lot longer, unfortunately.”
She recalled how the inauguration had been controversial, and how she had seen several protesters on the street, before taking her seat next to Dr Frasier Crane. “I f***ing grew up watching Frasier every Friday night down my nana’s,” she beamed.
“We’d watch Frasier and I just, I loved it. I thought he was, you know, so meeting Dr. Frasier Crane felt so great and he was a f***ing douchebag.”
Explaining herself, Charlotte went on to say: “He was so weird; he was telling me about his young girlfriend and how she had diarrhoea and so she couldn’t come. But he was saying it in the most caustic, horrible way. It was really like, Frasier, no.”
However, despite her misgivings on the actor, she also had a reasonable explanation as to why he may have made such bizarre remarks. She said that due to the extraordinary nature of the event they were going to, it might have caused him to act strangely.
“I think he was probably just like totally, he was so disinterested in, yeah, just so sort of caught up in his own, egocentric, I’d say,” she remarked. “Let’s call it egocentrism because narcissism is overused now.”
Charlotte has since gone on to build a career in singing on both sides of the Atlantic. A number of her albums cracking the top 40 album charts in America.
