Chris Pratt’s stunt double, Tony McFarr has died at the age of 47.
The beloved body double has worked with the Hollywood favourite on several of his major motion pictures including Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World. Tony’s mother Donna, confirmed the tragic news to TMZ on Monday (May 16).
She claimed the death was ‘unexpected and shocking’. It is understood he passed away outside him home in Orlando, Florida.

The medical examiner for Orange County is running a series toxicology tests and the results are still pending. His mother claims he was active and healthy before he sadly passed away.
Tony began his hugely successful stuntman career back in 2011 when he landed a job on the TV show Bones. He went on to work on a series of popular television shows including Teen Wolf and Homeland.
He then went on to work on some of the biggest action films to hit the silver screen including The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, Furious 7, Captain America: Civil War. He also worked on The Accountant and Allegiant before he became Chris’ full-time stunt double.
In 2015, he worked with the dad-of-two when he worked on Jurassic World. He then followed the actor in his fellow upcoming movies including Guardian of the Galaxy.
But it hasn’t always been plain sailing for the stunt double after he sustained a head injury after a nasty fall during the second instalment of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Over the years, he appeared to build a close friendship with the Parks and Recreation star.
After filming the first Guardians film, the actor shared a sweet snap alongside his body double on Instagram in 2016. He captioned the post: “Here’s me and my stunt-man Tony McFarr (also Tommy Harper stunts coordination and our first AD Lars Winther) on set.
“Been working with Tony since Jurassic World. Love you buddy! Happy wrap!” Chris has yet to comment on the death of his stunt double.
But he wasn’t always a stunt double. Tony has also had a few acting roles over the years. He had a small part in shows such as Macgyver, Burn Notice and One Tree Hill.
Away from the entertainment world, Tony was involved in the restaurant business and even opened a few of his own in Florida over the years. One restaurant is Reel Bowl, a poke and salad place which embraced a cinema theme.
Tony is survived by his daughter, sister, mum and dad, According to TMZ, he’ll be buried near his grandmother in the heart of Pennsylvania. The family are also reportedly getting together in the next few weeks to celebrate the stuntman’s life.
