Coronation Street fans are in for another jaw-dropping week on the ITV cobbles this week, as Simon Barlow takes a turn for the worse.
Over the past few weeks, ITV fans have watched the fan-favourite (played by Alex Bain) struggle to pick himself back up after his father Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) decided to leave Weatherfield for good. After splitting up with his wife Carla (Alison King), her nephew Bobby Donovan (Jack Carroll) moved to the street, determined to reconnect with his long-lost family.
Simon soon moved out of the flat with Bobby now staying in his room and found his own place to live. Feeling lonely, the hunk started to turn to drink to help him cope with the absence of his father.

Things quickly started to fall apart at work, when Carla fired him from the Underworld factory. She let him go after she discovered he had skipped work to go drinking with Bobby in the middle of a shift.
And it’s only going to get worse for Simon in upcoming scenes as he starts his new job working for Nick Tilsley (Ben Price). He starts the week waking up with a terrible hangover after yet another night of drinking.
It’s at this point that he realises he spilt beer over important paperwork. Desperate not to lose another job, he makes out that he’s not seen the documents before he slips off to print them off again.
After a gruelling first day, Simon rushes to the Rovers Return and immediately starts drinking his troubles away. Later on in the week, the hunk wakes up with the hangover from hell.
Thankfully, Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) covers for him before insisting he take the day off. She shares her concerns for him, admitting that she’s worried about his drinking and asks him to slow down.
After hearing that Simon has had a tough first week in his new job, Bobby tells Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) and Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) his plans to throw him a party to cheer him up. Simon was over the moon by the sweet gesture and drank the night away with his friends.
At the end of the week, Simon wakes up on the sofa with a banging head. As Bobby clears away the slew of empty bottles now decorating his apartment, Simon sneaks a swig of vodka.
Back at home, Nick tells his wife Toyah (Georgia Taylor) he needs her help shopping and asks Simon to drive his son Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) to his chess competition. But as they take set off, Simon loses control of the car on a bed and swerves off the road, crashing into a road sign.
In a panic, Simon orders Sam to get out of the car and tells him to run to his competition while he calls for help. At the end of the night, Simon comes clean to Leanne that he pranged her car.
But when she insists they report the damage to the police, Simon refuses and comes clean about driving over the limit. Leanne is understandable horrified, but will she report him?
