Alex Bain could be set for a role in a rival soap – following his reported exit from Coronation Street, a PR expert has claimed.
The actor has played Simon Barlow on the ITV soap since he was just seven. As the son of Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne), he made his debut in 2008 and has been on the cobbles ever since.
During his time on Corrie, Alex has been involved in several dramatic and memorable storylines, from drug dealing to abusing on-screen step-mum Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson). He’s also scooped up a slew of awards over the years for his portrayal of Simon.

However, in December, it was reported that Alex had quit the soap after 15 years. What’s more, it has been said his exit from the ITV soap will be “explosive.”

A source told The Sun: “Alex is sad to be leaving Coronation Street because it really is like a family — but he realises that the time is right to move on. He’s very excited about the future and other opportunities.” The publication also stated that Alex will bow out with an “explosive storyline this summer”.
Now, PR expert Rochelle White reckons Alex won’t be short of job opportunities if he decides to leave. So much so, that he could even land a job on a rival soap.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star, Rochelle said a role in Emmerdale would be a “good fit” for the actor. However, the expert did note how Alex could take a break from acting “to do stuff more behind the career.”
She revealed: “He could pop up in shows like Emmerdale or Hollyoaks as with his look, those shows could be a good fit. They are also a similar format to Corrie and something he is used to. Also the characters they have on these soaps could be ones he could easily get into.”
Nonetheless, Rochelle added how Alex might surprise everyone and “do something different.” She explained: “Alex could take a little career break, from acting, and maybe look at another way of being more creative. He’s acted for some long, he might be looking to do stuff more behind the career or even more in the digital space.”

Rochelle added: “We’ve seen actors/ performers launch production companies, YouTube channels and even brands. He might not take the traditional route of heading to another soap, he might surprise his fans by doing something different.”
News of Alex’s rumoured departure came after new pictures showed his character Simon and young Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) filming scenes involving a car accident. An icy patch causes a crash that ends up stirring up secrets many want kept quiet.
