Eamonn Holmes slates Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby in ‘inside joke’ rant

Eamonn Holmes has doubled down on his claim that the friendship between his old This Morning co-stars Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield was fake.

The presenter has been outspoken about Phillip amid the TV star’s scandal, which saw him exiting This Morning and admitting to an “unwise but not illegal” relationship with a younger male member of staff at ITV. Eamonn has also claimed that Phillip’s former friendship with his then co-host Holly wasn’t all it seemed.

It came up again as Eamonn and his GB News co-star Isabel Webster talked about the latest Strictly drama. On Saturday’s show, cameras captured pro Katya Jones turning away as her celeb dance partner Wynne Evans went to high five her and then she was later seen removing his hand from her waist. While they’ve insisted it was an “inside joke” between them, the awkward exchange has got people talking and it came up on GB News.

Eamonn was discussing it before he moved onto the Strictly curse then, discussing TV partnerships, he quipped that Isabel was his “TV wife”.

“That’s why we strictly apply a sort of turgid relationship and have nothing intimate or nice between us,” he joked, as Isabel started to laugh. He went on: “When you look at all those breakfast presenters and you can go through and say he hates her, she hates him, and they do. And I used to say it about Phil and Holly but nobody would believe me.”

“False, false, false,” he added.

Holly and Phillip used to be close friends as they presented This Morning together but their relationship came to an end amid the scandal. Phil was in the showbiz wilderness for over a year afterwards but recently made a comeback of sorts on Channel 5 show Cast Away, which saw him stranded on an island off Madagascar completely alone for 10 days as he told his side of the story.

Eamonn didn’t hold back as the three-part series aired, sharing his thoughts with viewers. At one point he remarked on Phil’s former closeness with Holly, claiming: “It was very much a false relationship.”

He also commented after Phillip said during Cast Away that he had been thrown under the bus by some colleagues. When it came up on GB News, Eamonn admitted: “Well look, if I’m one of the people who threw him under the bus, I’m very proud to have done it.”
