EastEnders’ Ben Mitchell ‘sent to prison’ after Keanu murder weapon ‘found on him’

EastEnders fans are convinced Ben Mitchell will be sent to prison.

Last year, it was announced that Max Bowden would be leaving the BBC soap, five years after he became the sixth actor to take on the role of Ben. An EastEnders spokesperson confirmed the news, saying: “Max will be leaving EastEnders next year. We wish him all the best for the future.”

Since news of his departure was announced, fans have been speculating how he will leave the soap as his exit is yet to be revealed. Last week Johnny Carter, now played by Charlie Suff, discovered The Six’s involvement in Keanu Taylor’s (Danny Walters) murder and how they covered it up.

He also learned that his mum Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) was still in possession of the murder weapon. When Johnny went to get rid of the carving knife, he realised it had been stolen by someone.

Fans immediately suspected that Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo) – Linda’s rapist – stole the murder weapon and will use it to blackmail The Six. Following recent events, viewers have speculated that Ben could land himself a hefty prison sentence after the murder weapon ends up in his possession.

Viewers will recall that Ben promised former flame Johnny that he would get rid of Dean. But the son of Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) could be in danger if Dean catches onto his plan to drive him out of Walford.

Sharing their theories online, one wrote: “If Ben regenerates, it’s likely he’s still going to leave for a little while and then come back with a new (old? Still rooting for Harry to return) face. My bet is he goes down for Keanu’s murder and goes to prison.”

A second agreed: “I was thinking it’ll be something to do with Dean. As much as I don’t want him to be involved, maybe he knows about Christmas and Ben jumps in for Kathy’s sake and either kills or has him killed and gets caught. If he actually does know about Christmas and stole the weapon, death is the only way to shut him up safely. He’ll either blackmail or ruin Linda for sure.

Another responded: “Your theory is much, much better. I bet you’re right on the money, I didn’t even think about Dean playing a part in this. Still, prison is definitely going to be Ben’s exist and then he’ll be let out a year later with a new face or morphs back into Harry Reid.”

“What if Dean knows that Ben is trying to get rid of him so he plants the murder weapon on Ben and get him sent down?” speculated someone else. A fourth echoed: “I bet that’s Ben’s exit, he’ll try to get rid of Dean and end up in prison again because I can’t see him leaving Lexi and Callum without a good reason,” echoed a fourth.

Others believe Ben’s husband Callum Highway (Tony Clay) could cheat on him with Johnny. One mused: “I’m guessing Bens exit will be Johnny sleeping with either Ben or Callum and the fallout from that,” as another pointed out: “I mean Ben and Johnny are constantly flirting and making bedroom eyes at each other already so it’s only a matter of time.”
