EastEnders fans are convinced Sonia Fowler will be striking up a fling with a female resident.
The character, played by Natalie Cassidy, has been a regular on the soap since 1993 and is a firm favourite with viewers. And it’s fair to say, she’s played a part in some of the soap’s most memorable storylines.
Sonia is currently on a quest to have a baby with partner Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman). However, the pair have faced several hurdles – including Reiss’ infertility.

What’s more, in a tragic twist it was revealed last year that Reiss’ wife was hospitalised in a long-term coma after suffering a stroke in the bath. At first, Sonia was taken aback by dating a technically married man but she soon changed her tune.
The soap icon continued her romance with Reiss, who is great-nephew of the late Dot Branning. Their relationship has since gone from strength to strength, and the pair have even decided to embark on an IVF journey to have a baby. But in a bid to afford it, Reiss stole money from Debbie’s bank account -something he failed to tell Sonia about.
Reiss came clean to Debbie though. Speaking to his come-induced wife, he told her would pay her back the money, claiming he had “borrowed” it.
But now, fans think a lesbian affair could be on the cards for Sonia in a huge twist. On a Reddit thread, one person claimed Sonia could end up raising a baby with Reiss’ wife if she wakes up.
The fan said: “The IVF works, Sonia is pregnant. Reiss’ wife wakes up, tells the police that Riess put her in the hospital. Reiss is arrested and Sonia raises his baby with his wife.”
Someone else said: “Omg I forgot Sonia is bi. but if she and Reiss’ wife ended up together I’d love it hahaha.” A third penned: “I’ve been saying for months It would be so interesting if Sonia ended up really liking Debbie better than Reiss and they dump him.”
