EastEnders killer Reiss Colwell’s exit ‘sealed’ as unlikely Mitchell takes action in surprise twist

EastEnders newcomer Teddy Mitchell is set to uncover the truth about Debbie Colwell’s murder in a huge twist.

Pregnant Sonia Fowler (played by Natalie Cassidy) was recently sent to prison on remand after being wrongly accused of killing her partner Reiss’ comatose wife Debbie (Jenny Meier), who was in a care home after suffering from a stroke.

But her true killer is Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) who smothered his wife with a pillow to ease the financial burden of her care needs.

As his money trouble spiralled, Reiss is trying to get himself out of debt after scamming Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) and Eve Unwin (Heather Peace), so has reluctantly agreed to work for Teddy Mitchell (Roland Manookian).

But during Tuesday’s episode of the BBC soap (September 17), Teddy requested that accountant Reiss fiddle with his books to make it look like he is ‘skint’.

However, Reiss has been consumed with making posters and a petition to draw attention to Sonia’s innocence and get her released from prison.

Now, Teddy has asked Reiss to hide his wealth, even if it means doing something illegal, and he is left with no choice but to agree.

Meanwhile, the gossips in Albert Square continue to talk about Reiss and Debbie’s murder, with the likes of Kim Fox (Tameka Empson) even refusing to sign his petition in case Sonia turns out to be guilty.

But Teddy wasn’t interested in Reiss’ campaign and piled on the pressure to handle his accounts, and told Reiss he needed the books back as his solicitor is asking for them urgently.

To speed things up, he offers to help Reiss prove that Sonia is in fact innocent, but only if he can meet the deadline.

Teddy then confirmed to Reiss he can get Sonia out of the slammer by hiring his private investigator who will expose who was responsible for Debbie’s death.

The prospect of Teddy’s offer made Reiss look uncomfortable. Will Teddy be the person to expose Reiss’ lies?

EastEnders airs Monday – Thursday on BBC One at 7:30pm, and on iPlayer
