EastEnders has been removed from the BBC schedule in a schedule shake-up.
The BBC soap was pulled to make way for the UEFA Euro’s 2024 which is currently dominating TV screens at the moment. The last minute switch-up will no doubt cause sadness for viewers hoping to get their weekly dose of Albert Square drama.
Fans can normally hope to tune in from Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm to catch up on Walford antics but on Monday (June 24) the soap won’t air due to the football. Instead, you’ll find Italy vs Croatia at the allotted time slot on the BBC One schedule.

In such an event, sometimes the broadcasting giant will opt to farm out popular programme to BBC Two. However, this will not be the case on Monday with the channel airing Albania vs Spain.
Now the episode will air on BBC Two on Tuesday and Tuesday’s original episode will air on Wednesday, also on BBC Two at 7.30pm. Wednesday’s programme will hit screens on Thursday at 7.30pm but will return to its home – BBC One.
This will mean that Thursday’s instalment will air on Friday, with the show now taking up the 7pm slot on BBC One’s schedule. The delay to the programme could not have come at a worse time for avid fans.
Recently on the programme, there have been a slew of exciting storylines that have truly captivated audiences. Meanwhile, just last week, there had been a shocking crime at the Queen Vic pub.
Albert Square residents all came together to remember Lola – who was played by actress Danielle Harold – who sadly died last year. During a charitable event in her honour a yet unknown thief, stole the cash raised in her vain.
Other soaps, such as ITV’s Emmerdale and Coronation Street, have also been affected by the Euros action. The two staples were replaced by football games last week.
