Emmerdale fans are convinced they’ve figured out who Brenda Walker’s next love interest will be, following her break up with Eric Pollard.
Brenda, played by Lesley Dunlop, has been a mainstay on the ITV soap since 2008 and has been involved in some major plotlines, including overcoming a brain tumour.
She has also stood by Eric Pollard, portrayed by Lesley’s real-life partner Chris Chittell, during his battle with Parkinson’s disease. However, recent events in the Dales have seen a dramatic shift in Brenda and Eric’s relationship.
Just last month, Eric popped the question to Brenda, much to her delight. But then he made a risky investment in cryptocurrency which quickly went south.

Eric was horrified to find his accounts drained. To add insult to injury, he had used Brenda’s savings for the investment and lost everything, reports Leeds Live. When Brenda discovered what had happened, she was heartbroken. Eric promised to sell his beloved shop to repay her, but in Thursday’s episode (December 5), Brenda ended their relationship for good.
In the episode, Eric proposed to Brenda again, expressing his love for her despite their current problems. But in a tragic twist, Brenda told him she no longer wanted to be with him, effectively ending their relationship.

In the latest episode of Emmerdale, Brenda was seen serving up the goods in the cafe to soap newbies Steph (Georgia Jay) and her grandad Anthony (Nicholas Day). Anthony got chatty with Brenda and left her with a charming “been a delight”, which even Steph noticed, joking about the pair exchanging texts.
But fans on an Emmerdale Facebook fan page weren’t too keen on a potential Brenda and Anthony love story. One viewer groaned: “Oh no Brenda and Eric,” while another chimed in with a cheeky :”Ew Anthony, leave Brenda alone.”

Another fan warned: “Brenda needs to stay far away from him as possible.” And one more cautioned: “She needs to be careful! ” Some are already bracing for a romance, with one saying: “Brenda and Anthony romance looming? “.
Anthony rocked up last month as Ruby Fox-Miligan’s (Beth Cordingly) long-lost dad, and it’s obvious Ruby’s got some serious skeletons in the closet about her old man with whispers among viewers that he might have a dark past involving child abuse.
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
