One clip sees people rushing to assist the late star when the music stopped, while concert-goers turn to the sound of commotion coming from behind the DJ booth. After his emergency at the venue, medical professionals were called at approximately 8.33pm, before he was carted off to hospital.

His tour manager announced his passing on Saturday (August 31), telling fans he was “lost for words.” Freeman’s manager, DJ and producer Birch Michael, took to social media to share a touching tribute to the star online.

He said: “You took me all over the world and had me performing alongside you on some of the biggest and greatest stages on this planet, the things you taught me have truly made me the man I am today.”

After the devastating incident, Hamden Mayor Lauren Garrett took to Facebook to confirm the news online. They added: “Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.”

Since the news broke, fans of the Celebrity Big Brother star have flooded to social media to share their heartbreak online. One user penned: “RIP Fatman Scoop, he literally just re-posted a video I shared the other day of the streets LOSING it to his music 20 years later.

“We grew up on that voice! Thank you for your sound. Rest in paradise.” Another added: “Losing Fatman Scoop is losing a huge part of culture. An essential part of music and his voice will literally live on forever. Rest in peace.”

A third echoed: “Fatman Scoop’s final moments in the physical included doing what he loved. It seems his final words were ‘If you came to party, make some noise’ before being transported to the hospital. RIP to the legend, Fatman Scoop.”

Meanwhile a fourth chimed in with: “The news about Fatman Scoop is so sad. I was just thinking the other day that music doesn’t hit the same anymore because we don’t have hype men like him on all the big tracks. Praying for his loved ones. Hope there is some comfort in the fact he died doing what he loved.”

The musician and producer was known for his incredible collaborations, working with the likes of Missy Elliott, Mariah Carey and David Guetta. In 2014, he revealed he was first given the nickname Fatman Scoop by his uncle due to his love of ice cream.

Despite rumours Lauryn Hill had bestowed it on him, he appeared as an extra in the Fugee’s 1996 music video for Killing Me Softly. The three-time Grammy Award winner turned to podcasting and reality TV in recent years.

The musician appeared on Channel 5’s Celebrity Big Brother: UK vs USA in 2015. It’s fair to say the musician has secured his place in the Hollywood Hall of Fame as one of the most successful rappers of his generation.
