Gemma Arterton admitted she had to battle an award-winning director who pushed her to film a sex scene.
The former Bond girl, 38, claims the director told her, “You’re going to s**g on the bed” in a last-minute plot change. The mum-of-one explained that she only signed up for the unnamed project on the understanding that the filmed romp would be heard and not seen.
The Hollywood star, who now avoids sex scene roles at all costs, has opened up about her distressing experience. She recalled: “He put pressure on us on the day. The other actor was mortified. There were very high-profile people there.

“I said, ‘You can’t do that, I’m flat out not doing it. I don’t care if you think I’m difficult’, but I only felt like I could say that because I was older.”
Speaking to the Radio Times, the film star explained what it was like as an up-and-coming actress at the start of her career. She told the outlet: “It would have been really hard [to say no] when I was younger.
“You might get the sack, or get a terrible reputation. It was before we had intimacy coordinators, who are the go-between now – it’s a totally different landscape.
“Anything you’re not comfortable with is not going to happen.” The star has filmed sex scenes in several blockbuster hits, most famously with Daniel Craig in Quantum of Solace. She went on: “When I started acting, there was a lot of nudity.
“You were just expected to do it. It didn’t fulfil me, it wasn’t fun. It didn’t feel like I was flexing my acting muscles.” It comes after the actress wrapped up filming her latest project, the Sky comedy Funny Woman.
It was Gemma’s first role since becoming a mum and even though her son was always by her side, she still fretted over how he’d find filming. She recalled: “He was 10 months old.
“I brought my family up to Liverpool where we shot the show, so he was with me. I dyed my hair blonde this season and it sounds ridiculous but I was convinced he didn’t recognise me!
“He’d see me for an hour or something a day, I’d be dressed as Sophie and I just don’t look like myself when I’m playing her, with the costumes and the hair and make up, so I was convinced that he didn’t know I was his mum. I found that quite hard.”
Although days on set are long and tiring, the actress explained the benefits of being an actress. She added: ““The good thing about this job is that it’s intense when you’re filming for three or four months.
“But then you might have months off where you can just be with your child. It was hard not to be with him but it’s OK. He’s forgiven me. He recognises me.”
