Giovanni Pernice’s famous flings – Strictly co-stars, pop icon and Love Islander

Giovanni Pernice has called time on his relationship with Molly Brown after five months together.

The former Strictly Come Dancing star had been dating 24-year-old Molly and the pair looked to be going from strength to strength. But earlier this week, it was revealed that the pair decided to end things after confirming they were an item back in February.

It comes as the crisis for the BBC show continues to deepen, with Pernice at the centre after former partner Amanda Abbington made claims he bullied and abused her during rehearsals. Giovanni strongly denies the claims, but whilst his dancing career has been thrown into jeopardy, it seems Gio has been less than lucky in love too.

So, as Giovanni finds himself single once again, Daily Star looks at some of the professional dancer’s previous flings.

Jowita Przystal

Back in 2022, it was revealed that Italian stallion Gio, 33, had been dating fellow Strictly pro Jowita Przystal, also 33. The pair admitted that they had fallen for each other over the course of the show and wanted to give a relationship a go.

Pernice was seen to be making moves on Jowita when they spent some time together backstage, as reported on by The Sun at the time. However, while the couple had some fun together, things eventually began to go south.

The pair officially broke off the relationship after just three months, with the pair being unable to see each other due to “hectic work schedules”. Things were made worse when Pernice was put on the Strictly tour, which made crucial time to bond practically “impossible”, and the pair split.

Maura Higgins

Maura Higgins was smitten with Giovanni, who broke things off after four months

Before Giovanni hooked up with Jowita, he was previously coupled up with Love Island bombshell Maura Higgins. The pair had been teasing a potential romance for months before Maura went official in 2021 when she posted a picture of the two to her Instagram and penned “I’m yours” in the caption.

The couple were cracking on and getting to know each other, even going as far as to move in together so that the pair could work around Gio’s busy schedule. A source close to Giovanni had said that he had “never felt like this about anyone before”.

But despite the signs that all was going well, Pernice ultimately decided to end things after just four months, blindsiding Maura and leaving her “devastated”, according to pals. The split eventually came after Pernice admitted he was not “ready to settle down” – a decision that left Maura reeling, believing that Giovanni was the one for her.

Ashley Roberts

Ashley and Giovanni called things off after a year of being together

Aside from his reality show co-stars, Giovanni had been linked to another blonde bombshell – pop star Ashley Roberts. The couple met on Strictly back in 2018 and it was clear there were sparks flying between the two, going on a series of secret dates.

Pernice seemed to be smitten with the Pussycat Doll, even going as far as to spend Christmas with Ashley’s family in the States. He gushed over the singer saying: “I never thought anyone would ever make me smile, laugh and steal my heart as fast as you did!! I love you amore.”

But after all the love the pair shared, after 14 months the pair decided to call it quits on their blooming relationship. Giovanni confirmed the pair had gone their separate ways, but admitted that they would remain friends.

Georgia May Foote

Giovanni and Georgia got together after they were paired up on Strictly in 2015. At the time of the show, Georgia was dating her Coronation Street co-star Sean Ward.

They split up in December, and Georgia and Gio went public after that and moved in together. However, after less than a year of dating they split up.

Georgia said on Twitter at the time: “Nothing I ever said about my feelings to Gio were fake before people start. I still love him very very much. But things change.”
