Britain’s toughest Gladiators star has revealed his hair loss battle after he damaged himself for life.
TV personality David McIntosh, best known for his time on the Sky 1 series Gladiators, has opened up on his hair loss struggles. He has also warned fans against harmful hair products which have been flooding the market.
David has been undergoing PRP sessions with aesthetician Dr Ed Robinson who has helped restore his hairline with PRP and polynucleotides. David exclusively shared: “I used to have a full Afro…. 1970s style, one day I decided I wanted to look like Steven Segal, the kick-ass 90s action hero.

“So I dyed my hair jet black and bought some hair relaxer from a beauty store. And wow, I looked like an absolute dream with jet-black flowing locks right down to my shoulders.
“But my newfound beauty lasted all but two weeks when my hair started to fall out in the shower. In the pursuit of vanity, I damaged my hair for life… Oh, how cruel the hands of fate can be!
“Hair loss isn’t a big thing for me, so it didn’t make me feel any less confident with myself. It was just an eye-opener into how freely available damaging hair products are that can do so much irreversible damage to your hair.
“If anything from my testimony, I would hope people can become more aware of how careful they should be with hair products. Especially in this age when so many beauty products are promoted via social media and in your face 24/7.
“Dr Ed is a true professional, and I wanted to kick start my journey to natural hair regrowth with him. Not only due to his buzzing reviews from past clients but his positive and charismatic energy towards the industry of beauty.
“I figured if he could add a bit of his energy to my PRP sessions then I’ll have flowing, strong locks like Samson in no time. But now I’ve been using Dr Ed to hopefully bring my hair back naturally and thus far from one treatment it’s already working.
“So, hopefully, a few more of these treatments and it will bring my hair back in full force and I’ll look 19 again.”
Dr Ed Robinson, an NHS anaesthetist, uniquely minimises discomfort with a scalp block that involves four injections of local anaesthetic. He said: “I am probably the only person to offer this treatment pain-free.”
He added: “The industry needs more male celebrities speaking out on the issue as hair loss affects up to 80% of men by their 50s and up to 50% of women at some point in their lives. There shouldn’t be any stigma.”
