Gogglebox couple file for divorce after six years just months after quitting show

Stephen Lustig-Webb and husband Daniel are divorcing after six years of marriage.

The couple quit Gogglebox last year with Stephen appearing on the Channel 4 show for over a decade with various co-stars.

He broke the news via a statement, saying: “It’s with much sadness Daniel and I have decided to divorce. There is, and always will be, a lot of love there but we’ve unfortunately grown apart and made the decision to part ways.”

Daniel told The Sun on Sunday: “We’ve made the decision with a very heavy heart to confirm our marriage has come to an end. I’m sure we will forever be friends.”

Stephen shot to fame on the original 2013 Gogglebox with his former boyfriend, Chris Ashby-Steed and later went on to film with his late mum, Pat, then Daniel before the couple left last year.

He previously revealed that he didn’t want to take part in Gogglebox because “he didn’t want to be known for some awful reality show”. However, once it transpired he would get cash, he changed his mind.

Stephen said at the time: “But they won me around when they said they would pay us. We weren’t really told what it was going to be, so I never really understood it. Then, when the show went out, my friends and family were all texting and it just seemed everyone was laughing.”

He added to New magazine: “As soon as I watched it, I got it. I didn’t know it was going to last for 10 years, but I knew it was good.”

Fans were devastated to learn Stephen’s mother Pat ‘Mummy’ Webb had passed away after a “long illness” in January this year. He wrote on Instagram: “Mummy Pat, you were one in a million, took everyone at face value, would share your last fiver with a stranger, the salt of the earth and the absolute centre of our world! “Rest in peace mum.”
