Lily Best has worried Hollyoaks fans with her cryptic response when asked if she was leaving the soap.
The actress plays Lizzie Chen-Williams in the Channel 4 programme, a role she bagged almost three years ago. But with reports of character cuts on the show, fans are concerned that she could get axed.
It came up during a question and answer session on Instagram, when a fan asked about Lizzie’s future in Chester. “Pls tell me Lizzie survives the character cuts?!” the person asked, adding a heart emoji and then a broken-hearted emoji.

However, the actress didn’t give a clear answer to the question. She responded with a snap that showed her on an escalator, peering off to the side. Lily added a string of side eye emojis to her post, leaving viewers guessing.
Hollyoaks is set to undergo some changes this year. It has been confirmed that the soap will undergo a time jump in its autumn stunt week, moving forwards a whole year.
The show will also reduce its weekly output from five episodes to three episodes in September. It comes after research suggested it was the optimum viewing pattern for the show.
Hollyoaks’ executive producer Hannah Cheers has been quoted as saying in a statement that the changes will involve “goodbye to some much-loved Hollyoaks villagers – and some earlier than we would have expected to”.
Lily joined the show as Lizzie in 2021 and has been a part of some gritty storylines, getting her drink spiked in one episode and in another becoming a victim of Eric Foster.
Lots of viewers have been discussing the time jump on social media, with many trying to work out which characters will be axed and which will stay. Some are fuming, worrying that favourites that go and wondering if storylines will end up being rushed.
“Not a good choice Hollyoaks,” one said on X. “No viewer likes loose ends or to miss momentous life changes for their fave characters, like leaving their home.”
But others think it could be good to have a shake-up. “I’m actually excited for the time jump this September,” one person posted. “Like yes, let’s reboot the show, give it a softcore finale and usher in this new Hollyoaks.”
