Hollyoaks villain Tyler Conti sent sick death threats and says ‘they’re over the top’

Hollyoaks villain Tyler Conti has been sent sick threats online. The actor’s performance as evil Abe Fielding is so convincing that some fans seem to think it’s real.

He told me: “There are some viewers who can’t separate the character from me. Maybe they are not mentally well.

“There have been some strong reactions. I have had threats. They say things like, ‘If I ever see you in the street, you’re going to get it’ and ‘I’m going to find you’. It can be a bit worrying.

“With one or two of the messages, I’ve had to block them and remove myself from it.

“It is a bit over the top. They might have some sort of problem.”

Despite the chilling threats, Tyler is thrilled to be playing a villain. Abe has been terrorising girlfriend Cleo McQueen, played by Nadine Mulkerrin, in one of the darkest plots in show history.

Tyler said: “When I found out about what Abe was going to be like, I was really happy about it.

“I want to tell this story. I want to raise awareness about dangerous relationships. I want people to watch the storyline and then look at their own behaviour.

“I don’t want Abe to be one dimensional. I want him to be as real as possible.”

Meanwhile, Hollyoaks star Gregory Finnegan has revealed details about his new venture away from the Channel 4 soap.

The 44-year-old actor, who joined the cast of the popular drama as lawyer James Nightingale in 2016, has been at the heart of some gripping storylines over the past nine years.

However, he’s now ready to give fans a glimpse into his real life with his explosive new memoir, The World According to Grog, where he shares insights into his personal and private life off-screen.

Discussing his thrilling new project, Gregory shared: “It’s a collection of stories and anecdotes. As actors, we can work flat out or be completely dead at work but I had a bit of time at the start of the year and I had a few funny stories about auditions I’ve had, people I’ve met and the funny interactions I’ve had and it kind of snowballed and I had a lot.”

  • Hollyoaks continues tomorrow at 7pm on E4.
