Former Home and Away star Kate Ritchie has been made to call the police on a man after receiving “hundreds” of explicit messages and videos.
The former actress and radio presenter was forced to call police in New South Wales last week after being bombarded with messages of a sexual nature. The chats were sent by Gerard Ryan, 71, who was supposedly in the suburb of where she lived as he tried to find her.
Despite only calling officers on the incident last week, the span of messages stretched from February 2022 through to April 2023. In the messages, Ryan allegedly sent “numerous naked photographs […] and numerous videos of the accused masturbating,” according to the facts established by the police.

Gerard was apprehended by officers in the east of Sydney on Wednesday (March 27th) and charged the man with stalking. He plead guilty to the charge in court earlier this week, and was also slapped with another order banning him from approaching the former soap star.
A local court in the town of Waverley heard how the messaging started in 2022, with Ryan commenting on her posts: “Hello Kate, I love you so much.”
A second post he sent to the star read: “I just want to kiss you, my heart is pounding for you, I love you madly.” However, this was not the only thing that he posted as he went on to become much more explicit.
In one chilling message he left for the star, he wrote: “My c**k wants to meet actress Kate Ritchie. It’s OK to say that here, I love her madly,” followed by a love heart and a kissing emoji.
Facts established by police also pointed to the idea that Ryan had wanted to marry Kate, adding that he would be “a good stepfather” to Ritchie’s daughter. Things reached a new level when he sent a letter to her work address which included a Valentine’s Day card.
After listening to the evidence, a judge found Ryan guilty on the charges he faced. He was sentenced to a twelve-month conditional release order and is now no longer allowed to come within 500 meters of Kate’s home or workplace.
