The series was pre-recorded which in turn meant there were no public votes or audience interaction. Instead, to decide who should be voted out of camp, celebrities were made to take part in trials to decide who would be next to leave.

But now, ITV have reportedly paused any talks of another season of the spin-off show. Speaking to The Sun, an insider close to the station revealing: “ITV have decided I’m A Celebrity South Africa will not return this year and there are currently no plans for another series.

“It may well return in the future so it’s not necessarily gone for good, but it definitely won’t be happening this year and there is nothing set in stone for when it will be,” the source added. “This will come as a disappointment to fans as Ant and Dec had previously hinted that it would be back and it was expected that it would be an annual thing.”

A spokesperson for ITV confirmed that the spin-off show was “one of the biggest entertainment shows of the year”, bringing in as many as 5.2million viewers in its run. However, the station insisted it was never due to return for another series in 2024. Ant and Dec whisked themselves off to South Africa alongside the cast of famous faces at the end of 2022. However, it was not until April 2023 when the show actually took to the airwaves.

Millions of viewers had been tuning in for the show and enjoyed the newest series of the programme. However, some fans were less than impressed that the show was pre-recorded as they were unable to influence the course of the show through voting.

In the final of the show, which had viewers wincing at their TV screens, Klass took on Diversity’s own Jordan Banjo for the opportunity to be declared the winner. The pair faced off in a horrific eating trial, where she was made to eat 60 mouse tails, as well as 40 spoons of fermented tofu.

However, after a tense clash with the dancer, Myleene was declared the winner, with former Olympian Fatima Whitbread finishing in third place. Speaking about the win, Myleene beamed: “The first time round, I wasn’t a mum so there was no jeopardy if I ran around the jungle for a few weeks in a white bikini.

“I had a ball the first time, but they say don’t go back to an ex and don’t go back to a reheated dinner. The jungle back in Australia gave me my family, gave me my work, gave me my career – I wanted to go to the bush as I wanted to say thank you for what the jungle has given me.”
