‘Insanely horrific’ Terrifier 3 scene so gory lead actor ‘nearly vomited’ on set

“Insanely horrific” scene in Terrifier 3 left one actor on the verge of vomiting.

Director Damien Leone wrote on X/Twitter: “Can honestly say we just filmed one of the most insanely horrific scenes of the Terrifier franchise and you’ll never believe who couldn’t handle it on set…the BTS is hilarious. Can’t wait for you all to see!”

David Howard Thornton, who plays Art, then confirmed: “I will just say that this is the kill that almost made me vom. That’s a first.” The Sun even reported that “sick bags were provided to viewers who watched the second instalment at early screenings”.

Leone even defended the claims that the stunt was a “marketing ploy,” quipping that “these reports are 100% legit”. After seeing the Terrifier 3 trailer, horror fans took to X/Twitter and one wrote: “If it’s any case of how creepy the first two were, this third one looks like it’s going to take the cake in terms of fear and violence and gore.”

One person tweeted: “This looks terrifying,” another said: “My most anticipated movie of the year looks F***ING AWESOME!! LFG,” and signed off with flame emojis, while a third added: “S*** looks horrifying in the best way, not into these sort of films but looks good.”

Terrifier is an American horror franchise created by Damien Leone. The first film, titled simply Terrifier, was released back in 2016 and the series follows Sienna Shaw.

Shaw has to defeat Art the Clown, a horrifying caricature of a clown dressed in a black and white jumpsuit with a teeny black top hat worn on the side of his head. The – luckily fictional – character is identified by his iconic long hooked nose and pasty white face paint, with creepy features such as dark sunken eye sockets and a large black clown’s mouth drawn on.

Art the Clown’s story has achieved a cult following since the first film’s release and has become a pop culture figure in his own right, following the footsteps of other horror icons including Freddie Kreuger and Michael Myers.

Terrifier 2, which is set to be released on 25 October, is reportedly “an upcoming Christmas slasher film”. One premise reads: “After surviving Art the Clown’s Halloween massacre, Sienna and her brother are struggling to rebuild their shattered lives. Just when they think they are safe, [he] returns determined to turn their holiday cheer into a new nightmare.”
