The 56-year-old journalist, who also holds the position of International Affairs Editor, began to battle with his speech as Friday (April 26) night’s bulletin went aired live to the nation.

Omaar’s apparent struggle sparked a wave of worry among those watching at home, who then shared the concerning footage on social media platforms.

Rageh, now receiving medical attention, has offered his thanks for the flood of kind sentiments. An ITV spokesperson provided an update on behalf of News at Ten, stating, “We are aware that viewers are concerned about Rageh Omaar’s wellbeing,” and added, “Rageh became unwell while presenting News at Ten on Friday and is now receiving medical care.”

Further sharing, “He thanks everyone for their well wishes.” After watching the bulletin, one viewer posted on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Something DESPERATELY wrong with ITV newsreader, Rageh Omaar, reader of tonight’s Ten. Desperately hope he’s okay.” Another added: “Sending well wishes to Rageh Omaar!” A third person said: “Best wishes to Rageh Omaar.” A fourth media user said: Sending @ragehomaar Get Well wishes.”

At present, there have been no further updates from ITV regarding Rageh’s health condition or a detailed account of what transpired on air that night. Viewers however were met with a brief message in place of the usual rerun on ITV +1, stating that ITV was “temporarily unable to bring you our +1 service”. With assurances of a quick return, it concluded saying “We will resume shortly,”.
