ITV The Masked Singer judge gutted as Chicken Caesar revealed as Pointless host

The Masked Singer’s Chicken Caesar has been revealed as Pointless host Alexander Armstrong.

The wildest programme on TV made its return to screens on Saturday (January 6) for the second episode of its fifth series. And a brand new batch of masked celebs all took to the stage to show off their vocal chops.

The likes of Air Fryer, Bubble Tea, Eiffel Tower, Owl, Caesar Salad and Piranha performed a slew of hits as they attempted to foil their true identity. And judges Rita Ora, Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan and Jonathan Ross were on hand to help suss out who they really were.

Bubble Tea, Owl and Chicken Caesar found themselves in the bottom three, meaning they had to sing their hearts out to impress enough to stay in the show. However, it was Chicken Caesar and Classic FM host Alexander’s time to go.

The show aired another unmasking

And host Jonathan was kicking himself because he felt he should have worked it out. “I should have got it”, he cried. Alexander is known for presenting shows like Pointless and Armstrong and Miller.

Talking about taking part in the show, Alexander said: “I’ve been longing to do it, every year I’m always getting messages saying are you so and so? Are you Traffic Cone? And I say maybe! I’ve loved it, it’s the beginning of the journey and the end of the journey but what a journey it’s been!”

During his video on the show, Alexander spoke with a Geordie accent and claimed he was a “salad of great ambition.” There was also a reference to Roman numerals – which Rita and Mo thought formed the year 1970. However, it was 1970 the year Alexander was born.

When asked how he felt keeping the secret, Alexander said it’s been made “very easy” because the contestants have “code names.” He explained: “I’ve got very good at talking about the programme by its code name, so it’s been pretty good.

“Obviously the fact is we all have to mask up as we walk around, we have to wear gloves, full visor, and everything. It just feels very Squid Game, but I don’t mind that. It adds a bit of risk.”

Alexander took to the stage as Chicken Caesar

Fans were quick to react the Alexander’s unmasking on X, formerly known as Twitter. One person said: “Can’t believe they’ve kicked off Alexander Armstrong in the first week.” A second penned: “Justice for Chicken Caesar.” A third chimed in and mused: “Well I got chicken completely wrong!” A fourth joked: “What the cluck.”

It comes after after the news that The Masked Singer bosses have reportedly secured the best singers in its history for its 2024 series. Producers managed to sign up a raft of tip top vocalists to compete on the new series. For years the show has been famous for wild performances but this means it’ll be able to rival The Voice and Britain’s Got Talent when it comes to performances.

Panellist Rita said: “The talent is fantastic. The voices on this series are the best I’ve ever heard and the personalities are so amazing.” Host Joel Dommett added: “We’ve definitely got some of the best vocalists we’ve ever had on the show. I really do feel like we’ve got some of the best we’ve ever had.” After four years on the box, show chiefs are pulling out all the stops to make sure it’s still must-see telly.
