Lily Allen plans to haunt owners of former £4.2m ‘dream home’ from beyond the grave

Lily Allen wants to come back as a ghost to haunt the new owners of the Cotswolds’ mansion she had to sell to pay a tax bill.

The singer warned the occupants she will be “screeching” her hit song Somewhere Only We Know to try and drive them out so her children can buy it with their inheritance money.

The 39-year-old star sold her £4.2 million “house of dreams” in 2016 and previously admitted she checks the housing market “every day” to see if it has gone back on sale.

Speaking on the Where There’s A Will, There’s A Wake podcast, Lily said “I had a beautiful house when my kids were babies, I had this house in Gloucestershire, that was probably a little bit beyond my means,’” she said.

“I really struggled to keep my monthly payments and I lost this house when I got a very large tax bill I couldn’t pay so I had to sell the house. Big fan of paying tax, so I’m not moaning about that.

“I really think people in a higher earning bracket should pay what they are meant to pay and so I had to sell my house in order to do that. But I would like that house back. So given the opportunity I’d like to keep it in the family.

“I would haunt the people that are in there now so they don’t want to live there anymore and do anything to get out of there. And my kids will be able to buy it with the money that I left them when I die.” It comes after Lily admitted she always flies first class while her 11-year old daughter Ethel sits in economy, despite the fact she doesn’t like sitting apart

The Smile singer dropped the bombshell during a chat with Miquita Oliver on their BBC podcast, Miss Me? Lily opened up about jetting back to England for Miquita’s 40th birthday bash and bringing along her eldest, Ethel, whom she sat apart from.

Lily, 38, told Miquita: “We are flying to London today to come and see you for your birthday. I’m going in first class, she’s going in economy.” Miquita quipped back, asking: “You know what that is? ” as Lily cheekily responded: “Selfish?”
