Love Island star talks council flat past to owning multi-million pound property empire

Love Island star Olivia Bowen has come from humble beginnings but since leaving the ITV villa has catapulted into success after making moves in the property world.

Eight years ago, Olivia was earning £18,000 per year as a sales executive and living in a council flat, but now has a multi-million-pound property portfolio under her belt. But Olivia, 30, hasn’t done this alone as she has teamed up with her co-star hubby Alex Bowen for their joint business venture.

When asked how it feels to look back at how far she has come in the past decade, Olivia exclusively said: “I struggle to think about it, because I still feel like the same person, like I don’t feel any different as a human.

“But it is just freaking incredible and I’m so lucky and grateful to have had the leg up from Love Island, and to have met Alex, and to have had people around me that have helped me control spending and make wise decisions.

“It comes to that really, about who you surround yourself with. And I think I’ve always had a really good supportive network. So it’s all down to them really.”

Olivia and Alex first met on series two of Love Island in 2016 and got hitched in 2018. They now share a two-year-old son, Abel, who was born in 2022.

The pair bought a semi-detached property in the Midlands to rent out and invested £100,000 in a three-bed property in Wolverhampton in 2021 and have now purchased a property abroad. The couple have also teamed up with Affinity Water to promote their Look and Listen Test.

Olivia explained: “Everyone’s always looking for little tips and tricks to save money and I think the look and listen test is a great MOT that you can do on your home to make sure that you’re getting the most out of your water and not going crazy on your water bill.

“Things like listening out for drips of running water and checking your bill for abnormalities, there are loads of little things you can do, and it is really easy. Currently leaks cost the nation around £700 million so I think we can all definitely up our game a little bit.”

Starting in 2025, Affinity Water’s efforts will increase with more leak-fixing, water audits for businesses, and new water-saving policies from the government to support the program. Stop leaks in their tracks with the Look and Listen Test, visit affinitywater.co.uk/homeleaks to learn more.
