Martine McCutcheon splits from husband of 19 years after ‘his decision’

Martine McCutcheon has confirmed she has separated from her husband Jack McManus after 19 years together.

The former Love Actually star, 48, revealed that their separation was her ex-husband’s decision in a lengthy post.

She wrote: “After much thought and consideration, Jack has decided it’s best for us to separate after 18 years together and I accept his decision. We are both so very blessed and grateful for our beautiful, 9 year old son Rafferty, who’s happiness and welfare, has always been, and will continue to be, our number I priority.

“Whilst this decision has evolved over a period of time, we are still finding our new way forward as a family and kindly ask for some privacy at this time… Especially for our little boy.”

The mum-of-one went on to shower their son with love and support after confirming their break-up. Martine continued: “Our love for Rafferty, is something that will never, waver, or change and we obviously want to protect him and help him feel as safe and secure as possible.

“Many thanks in advance for your respect and support, at this difficult time… And I continue to send Jack, all the love, luck and happiness for the next chapter of his.

“Rafferty and I (as always,) are rooting for you! Thank you all, for the love and support, now and always…”

The news shouldn’t come as a shock to fans after she shared a cryptic message on Instagram about “letting go” and “giving them space” last month. The message read: “Let go. Love them from a distance.

“Let them figure out their feelings, what they want in life, where they’re going, and who they want to be. Focus on yourself and your goals while you’re giving them space.

“And remember, you’re not obligated to still be there waiting when they’re ready.” She went on to open up about an “intense week” she went through, but the former EastEnders star did not specify how the quotes applied to her life.

Martine and Jack first got together in the early 2000s and went on to tie the knot in 2012. The Bluebirds star and the singer-songwriter exchanged their vows in Lake Como in Italy.

But their perfect day didn’t go quite to plan when the actress walked down the aisle in a lace Pronovias wedding dress with a floor-length veil. In an interview with Hello! magazine, she revealed that her veil accidentally caught on fire when her husband gave his evening speech.

She told the outlet: “I wish we’d have practiced talking in the microphone because my husband set my veil on fire when he put the microphone down the table.

“Then I had to reach over the candelabra to reach the microphone and get it. And you literally see someone’s hands in the video, like putting out the fire on my veil.”

The couple went on to welcome their son Rafferty three years later. The couple marked their 10th anniversary in September 2022 by holding a secret vow renewal with their son at the five-star Beaverbrook hotel.

She told Hello! magazine at the time: “We renewed our vows with Rafferty which was wonderful and intimate, and one of the best days of my life. It was gorgeous.

“It wasn’t big, it wasn’t shows, it was so lovely.” Want all the biggest Showbiz and TV news straight to your inbox? Sign up for our free Daily Star Showbiz newsletter
