Mia Farrow has led tributes to her sister Tisa Farrow, who has died at the age of 72.
Mia, 78, confirmed Tisa died “in her sleep” and “unexpectedly” in a lengthy statement shared with fans. She penned: “If there is a Heaven, undoubtedly my beautiful sister Tisa is being welcomed there.
“She was the best of us – I have never met a more generous and loving person. She loved life and never complained. Ever. She was a nurse for 27 years, a wonderful sister to Steffi, Prudence, and me, a devoted mother to Jason, who died in Iraq, Bridget and little grandson Kylor – the lights of her life.

“She died unexpectedly yesterday morning. Apparently in her sleep. This is a hard time for all of us who admire and love her so deeply.”
Full name Theresa Magdalena Farrow, as well as working as a nurse, Tisa made her name in several movies, including Zombie Flesh Eaters and Winter Kills. She also appeared in hit movie Manhattan.
Her last on-screen role was 1980 film The Last Hunter, in which she starred as Jane Foster. She died in Rutland, Vermont.
Before her death, Tisa’s life was sadly marred by tragedy. Her son Jason was killed in Iraq in 2018 while serving in the US Army, while her brother Michael died in a 1958 plane crash. Her older brother Patrick took his own life in 2009.
Tributes have been flooding in for Tisa, with one fan writing: “We’re very upset to hear of cult actress Tisa Farrow who has sadly passed away. She appeared in no less than three video nasties (Anthropophagous, Zombie Flesh Eaters, and The Last Hunter) as well as the crime thriller Strange Shadows in an Empty Room. Rest in peace Tisa.”
Another added: “RIP Tisa Farrow, whose incredible, one-of-a-kind filmography includes such bangers as Fingers, Zombie, Some Call it Loving, and Anthropophagus.” As a third fan chimed in: “RIP Tisa Farrow. Beautifully talented much like her sister but I was more fascinated by her film career starring in Italian horror films like ZOMBIE and ANTROPOPHAGUS.”
