Michelle Keegan ‘sorting her life out’ after being left ‘torn’ over Mark Wright decision

Michelle Keegan has revealed she is currently “sorting her life out” as she mulls over a move to Hollywood.

The 36-year old former Coronation Street star is tipped for stardom in the United States following the success of Netflix drama Fool Me Once but the actress is “torn” between having a shot at the big time and remaining in Blighty with her TOWIE star husband, Mark Wright.

Brunette beauty Michelle has reportedly been inundated with scripts for future projects from Tinseltown executives, which could play a key role in her decision. Despite teasing a move across the Atlantic in a recent interview, the actress is said to be “stressed” about the prospect of possibly having to give up on the idea of “following her dreams”.

It comes after the pair – who met in 2012 and married three years later – finally completed the renovation of their £3.5 million Essex mansion, adding further complexity to the matter.

Michelle, meanwhile, took to her Instagram story on Monday to share a snap of her 2024 diary alongside a weekly planner and a to-do list. She added the caption: “Sorting my life out and getting organised.”

Addressing the possibility of a big move in the Guardian last week, she explained: I went to America when Mark was [working] out there. Didn’t like it. But let’s see. If a job comes up… I guess? I’ve never thought beyond what I’m doing right at that moment. And I think that’s how I live now as well. I don’t think in terms of goals. I live in the moment.”

Michelle also discussed the US in a chat with Ferne Cotton on her Happy Place podcast. Host Ferne asked: “You’ve had periods where you have been in totally different continents. How have you made it work long distance? There are plenty of people [who have long-distance relationships]. What keeps you on the right track?”

Michelle responded: “That’s the thing – we’re not the first to it. And it is a job thing. I had like two months alone but then he’d come out and stay with me for six weeks. And it’s just having and finding that time for each other. I think that’s the main key, but also letting us have our freedom to do what we wanna do career-wise.”

According to brand and culture expert Nick Ede, meanwhile, a number of streaming platforms – not just Netflix – are vying for the former soap star’s signature. Speaking to OK!, he said: “This is Michelle’s golden moment. She’s really earned her acting stripes and she’s held her own as the lead performer in Fool Me Once against Joanna Lumley, who is known all over the world.

“It’s really given Michelle a platform to make her a major star. All eyes are on her at the moment because Netflix is watched by millions of people globally and her series is number one here and in the US. She looks every inch the Hollywood leading lady and she has star quality.”
