Watch out TOWIE – there’s a new bunch of reality stars out to prove the only way is the Scouse way.
E4’s new show, It’s A Scouse Life, has been launched as a Northern ratings rival to the hit Essex series. And according to its two feisty female leads – the Liverpudlian cast will show it’s a city full of hotties, not hooligans.
Blond bombshell Malina Halpin, 28, said: “Scousers have a bad reputation but I think this will show what we are really like. “We have been painted out as hooligans but we are loyal, passionate, hard working and funny.
“I think we are a really powerful city which is unique. We aren’t English, we are Scouse and there’s a difference. We are our own breed.
“I don’t know where that comes from but Scouse is in our DNA.” It’s A Scouse Life launches on Tuesday with an hour long pilot episode.
If it’s a ratings hit, a full series will follow. The show has already been compared to TOWIE and Made In Chelsea.
And according to Georgia Austin, 27, Scousers have a lot in common with their Essex rivals, despite the north, south divide. The former Miss Liverpool said: “To be compared to TOWIE and Made In Chelsea is a huge compliment.
“We get a lot of stereotypes as Scousers, but we want to show Southerners that we are sound. We are a very glamorous city and take pride in our appearance. You can definitely compare Liverpool to Essex. There’s a lot of similarities.
“We love a big night out, a bouji dinner, a cocktail, getting glam and have our own wicked sense of humour. Scousers are a bit Marmite though, you will love it or hate it.
“I think we have a bad reputation which isn’t fair.
“People have these archaic pre-conceptions of us but we are the friendliest, funniest people. We welcome people with open arms. We are dead sound. We are here for a laugh and a good time. We mean no harm.”
The leading ladies are rivals on the show. But the frenemies managed to agree on one thing – that women wear the trousers in Liverpool.
Model Georgia said: “Women run the city in Liverpool. We are the top dogs so it’s good to have two female leads.
“It’s blond versus brunette. It’s battle of the babes so we will have to wait to see who comes out as Queen Bee.”
Fashion entrepreneur Melinda, who is dating MMA fighter Darren Till, chipped in: “We have two women as the main characters.
“I don’t think there’s anything more iconic than that.” Showrunner Simon Atkins added: “The show has a great cast and all the ingredients needed to be a huge hit.”
It’s A Scouse Life airs Tues at 10:25pm on E4.
