Ruth Langsford ‘hurt’ by Eamonn Holmes discovery as ‘reason’ for split exposed

Ruth Langsford has reportedly been left “hurt” after she made a discovery about her ex Eamonn Holmes.

Ruth, 63, left fans stunned when she – along with Eamonn – released a joint statement saying that the pair had decided to divorce after 14 years of marriage. However, pals of the GB News presenter had said Eamonn was “blindsided” by the news and that the statement was fully made by Ruth’s team.

After calling time on their relationship last month, Ruth has kept quiet and taken an extended amount of time away from her stints on Loose Women and her shopping programme on QVC. This is in contrast to the Northern Irish broadcaster who brought himself back to presenting his programme last Tuesday (May 28).

Now, things have become more personal as Ruth has reportedly been “hurt” at claims that Eamonn is being consoled by another woman, according to friends. The host has been spotted on several outings with the woman in question, who is said to be in her forties, leaving Ruth devastated.

According to sources, the duo had made an unlikely friendship over the last two years, with the twosome being spotted at a number of different venues since February. Amongst the activities the pair have been on are a safari park adventure, a Beyoncé concert and a trip to see Manchester United play a match, with Eamonn appearing to become closer to the woman in the last year.

One friend of the Loose Women star said to The Mirror: “Ruth was hurt when she learned about Eamonn’s friendship with another woman but she is strong and she will be back soon with a smile on her face, putting her best foot forward, as she always does. She needs a bit of time to regroup after everything that’s gone on, which is understandable, but she plans to return to Loose Women, with renewed vigour, in July.”

However, the pal insisted that there was “no chance whatsoever” of reconciliation with her former darling following the split. Eamonn and the woman were said to have met through social media after having previously met for their work for a mental health charity.

According to the insider, the woman is believed to be a volunteer that Eamonn had worked with following the tragic death of Ruth’s sister Julia Johnson. Julia sadly took her own life in 2019, leaving Ruth’s family in tatters.

Langsford is also said to be “deeply upset” at speculation that she had left Eamonn due to his numerous health issues. The pal blasted the accusations, saying: “She’s always been there for him, but she has struggled with the knowledge that he’s not always been honest with her.”

Eamonn has publicly addressed the split since the announcement was made, thanking viewers when he returned to his show last week. He said: “Your support for both of us is very much appreciated.”

Ruth is now continuing her extended break from Loose Women, which had already been booked before she went public with the split. She has continued to share updates on her life, and revealed she had a makeover following the announcement.
