Sharon Osbourne’s heartbreaking confession about husband Ozzy’s Parkinson’s battle

Sharon Osbourne says she feels “helpless” watching husband Ozzy battle Parkinson’s disease.

The TV star, music manager and author said she had found coping with the rocker’s condition “very difficult” because there is “nothing” she can do to make him better. Watching the Black Sabbath singer struggling breaks your heart’, she added.

Ozzy, 75, was diagnosed with the progressive nervous system disorder 20 years ago and revealed last September doctors removed a tumour found on one of his vertebrae when they inserted a rod in his spine to combat the effects of a fall. He told Rolling Stone magazine he did not think about Parkinson’s “that much”, had got ’10 years left’ and would carry on singing if he thought he could still put on a good show.

But former The X Factor judge Sharon, 71, who lost her fingernails, toenails and hair undergoing chemotherapy for cancer in 2002, said watching her husband of 42 years battling his ailments was devastating’. She said: “Ozzy’s Parkinson’s has been very difficult. It breaks your heart to see somebody you love and adore not being 100%.

“You feel helpless because you want to help them get better but there’s nothing you can do. It’s completely devastating.’’

Sharon said she had been on anti-depressants for more than 30 years. “I often think to myself, God, why can’t I be stronger? Why do I need to take this s***?’’’ she said. But it’s just a fact of life. I’d much rather lie in bed and pull the sheets over my head. But I can’t, so I need constant medication.’’

Last year, Ozzy spoke of how rough he felt following the spinal surgery. He told Rolling Stone: “It’s really knocked me about.

“I thought I’d be up and running after the second and third, but with the last one they put a f**king rod in my spine. They found a tumour in one of the vertebrae, so they had to dig all that out too. It’s pretty rough, man, and my balance is all f**ked up.”

Sharon didn’t stay in the Celebrity Big Brother house long as she couldn’t spend too much time away from her husband

Sharon, who recently appeared on Celebrity Big Brother, revealed she only stayed on the ITV reboot for a few days as she couldn’t leave her husband for too long. She told The Sun: “I don’t want to stay away from Ozzy for too long. We’re so close as a family.

“I don’t think I have ever gone a week without talking to any of them, ever. Through fights, feuds, everything. We still talk and this will definitely be the longest. I don’t know how I’m going to cope.”
