Sky News has been slammed by fans over comments it made on Liam Payne ‘s son Bear.
The One Direction star, 31, died on Wednesday (October 16) in a shock passing that has left the entertainment world stunned. Investigations into how he was able to fall out of the third-floor window of a hotel in Buenos Aires are now underway.
After news of his death broke, fans and friends of the Strip That Down singer started to pour out, as many could not believe the news. As a result, news outlets began to report on the various tributes being paid to the former X Factor icon.

Many of the tributes also gave their condolences to Bear, Liam’s seven-year-old child he shared with former partner Cheryl, who now would grow up without a father. This was reflected in a lot of the news coverage that came out shortly after his death was announced.
Among those who picked up the story were Sky News, who paid tribute to the star before attention turned to the child. However, fans were not happy with the presenter – and have branded her comments as “disgusting”.
In a clip that was uploaded to Twitter, the presenter – off-screen when she made the comments, took the bizarre opportunity to have a laugh about his son’s name. “I remember when Bear was born, and we were laughing at the name because it’s quite funny,” she recalled.
The original uploader of the clip fumed: “Ah, just Sky News being as scummy as you’d expect re: Liam Payne news.” This prompted a wave of criticism from other disgruntled fans, who made their own issues known – with one user penning: “What a strange thing for her to bring up.”
A second added: “Sky News are turning into GBeebies,” a reference to GB News, “What a disgusting thing to say.” A third penned: “Jesus, this news just broke and she decided to randomly make fun of his kids name; that kid, stupid name or not just lost their dad.”
Bear was brought into the world in March of 2017, seven years after parents Cheryl and Liam would meet on The X Factor. The couple had been dating for about a year when Bear was born, and despite the couple calling time on their relationship, both vowed to look after their bundle of joy.
Liam and Cheryl had spoken candidly about co-parenting in recent years, with the Little Things star opening up about how often he is able to see his child. In now-chilling comments, Liam said it was important for Bear to have “his dad in his life”, and admitted Bear saw his father “like a superhero”.
He explained in an interview with People magazine: “I make sure when I see him, he has 100 percent of my time. I make sure that I’m not on my phone or dicking around somewhere else.
“So, I like to give him those moments and it’s important, he needs that in his life, he needs his dad in his life, and I’m happy he looks at me like a superhero, and I’m hoping to keep it that way.”
