Dianne Buswell is promising the new series of Strictly will be the most joyful in its history.
The pro dancer has started rehearsing group routines and she’s been amazed at how upbeat they are. And she reckons it will give the nation a much-needed boost.
Dianne told the Daily Star Sunday: “We have been in rehearsals and the pro dances have made me smile a lot. They’re fun. It’s really feel-good. With everything we’ve done so far, you can’t help but smile and feel joyous. I think there’s going to be a lot of joy on Strictly this year, more so than ever before. It feels really fun.”

Strictly has been in crisis in recent months over claims of abusive behaviour behind the scenes. Execs have even been forced to axe two pro hunks – Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima.
It has even led to calls for the show to be axed for good. But Dianne is confident the scandal won’t damage the show and ratings will still be sky high for the new series.
She said: “Strictly is such a happy place. Honestly, I think people will watch. They won’t be able to help but feel joy and smile and enjoy the dancing and enjoy what we bring to the table on a Saturday night.”
In a clear eight-word message to fans, she added: “I’m sure fans will still love the show.”
Celebs taking part this year include pop singer Shayne Ward, EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick and Miranda star Sarah Hadland. Dianne insists she doesn’t mind who she gets paired with because all contestants have something special.
She said: “They’re all coming onto Strictly because they’ve done amazing things. So they’re all interesting people. There’s always a great mix. There’s something in everyone you can bring out. That’s the exciting part.”
Dianne has now been on Strictly for eight series. Over the years she’s made the final twice – with Joe Sugg in 2018 and Bobby Brazier last year.
And she’s enjoying it now as much as ever. She said: “It’s such a buzz when we start rehearsing. I always used to get a buzz whenever I started a new year at school and I’m like that with Strictly.
“I get excited every year. It’s my eighth year and I get just as excited now as I did when I first started. Being part of the show really is quite special. I see the effect that Strictly has on so many people.
“It’s an amazing thing to get to make people’s Saturday nights better. That’s why I keep coming back to the show. It’s incredible to be part of it.”
The series kicks off next month on BBC One.
