Strictly Come Dancing’s Toyah Willcox dealt devastating blow hours before live show

Toyah Willcox has been dealt a huge blow ahead of the Strictly live show.

The 66-year-old singer and Neil Jones were sent to the bottom of the leaderboard with just 12 points after their debut last weekend. They danced the tango to Madonna’s Ray of Light but received a lot of criticism from the judges.

And now she’s the most likely celeb to be booted from the competition on Sunday (September 29) according to the latest odds. She’s the 6-4 favourite to be eliminated in the latest odds from Coral’s John Hill.

She’s ahead of former footy star Paul Merson, who gets 7-2 and DIY SOS presenter Nick Knowles, who is 9-2. Love Island star Tasha Ghouri is the 3-1 favourite to win the competition, followed closely by Chris McCausland and JB Gill on 7-2.

The bookies said: “Toyah Wilcox is under the most pressure for a big performance on Saturday night, as we make her the favourite to be the first contestant eliminated from this year’s series. Paul Merson and Nick Knowles are also the top end of the first elimination betting and are in danger of being in the dance-off this weekend.”

Toyah and returning pro Neil got a huge cheer from the crowd, but sadly, their routine wasn’t a hit with judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas. Craig said: “For me, it lacked aggression. It really did, you were leaping around.

“This is like a prowling dance, you should be in your knees and I felt like you were being lifted, you went off the wrong foot a couple of times as well, we lost timing, we lost connection.”

Motsi Mabuse interrupted to say: “Listen, Craig, I feel like this dance has never met Toyah. Even Neil didn’t know what was happening.

“I am going, I am going, nobody is going to stop me, not even Craig. You were pushing him, I saw Neil at one point lifting you so those legs don’t move.”

Craig replied: “Her feet were nowhere near the floor, Motsi.” Shirley cut in and said: “Well actually I think it does matter and I think what Craig said was absolutely right. Please hold her hand while I deliver this message.

“You have the most competitive spirit, I want to say that first of all, I think you came out here and you wanted to give it your all and you did your best. Unfortunately, less is more, and poor Neil looked like he was going for a walk in the park. I have danced with Neil and he’s beautiful to dance with so we need listening skills, we need to calm it a little bit.”
