Strictly star Amanda Abbington calls police after death threats from online trolls

Strictly Come Dancing’s Amanda Abbington was reportedly left ‘petrified’ after receiving death threats from online trolls following Giovanni Pernice’s departure from the show.

The drama began when Amanda dramatically exited the last series of the BBC competition. At the time, she cited “personal reasons” for her departure from the BBC show.

However, she has since accused her professional partner Giovanni of abusive behaviour, alleging that his training methods left her “broken and in tears” and suffering from “mild Post Traumatic Stress Disorder”.

An insider revealed that the Mr Selfridge actress Amanda decided to involve the police after feeling “terrified” and “extremely vulnerable in public”. They stated: “At one point she was struggling to handle the hundreds of messages containing nasty comments and threatening her safety.”

Speaking to The Sun, they further added: “It was dreadful to deal with. The sheer volume was overwhelming and the content was unspeakable and incredibly threatening. The police have taken the messages seriously.”
