Strictly Come Dancing pro Giovanni Pernice may have hinted at the reason for his apparent tough training style way before his “feud” with Amanda Abbington emerged.
The Italian hunk has been surrounded by difficult claims over the past few weeks. And his 2023 celebrity partner has reportedly claimed she has PTSD after training with him.
The Sherlock actress reportedly requested footage from the BBC of their training sessions, which she may use for potential legal proceedings. Since, not-so-positive claims about Gio have re-emerged from more of his celebrity partners.

However, Giovanni, 33, might have suggested there was an underlying reason for his perfectionist attitude behind-the-scenes. And it all stems back to 2021.
Back then, he stormed to the win with his EastEnders star partner Rose Ayling-Ellis. The duo danced their way into the hearts of the nation with their powerful performances – and Rose has shared nothing but love for her friend.
Speaking to The Guardian in 2022, Giovanni said: “There are no distractions. Then came the experience of winning – something I became addicted to.
“The first time I won a competition, I thought, ‘Being the champion feels nice. Let me have more of it!'”
His words appear to back up claims from his previous Strictly partners, who painted him as a perfectionist. In fact, Girls Aloud’s Nicola Roberts, who also described herself as a perfectionist, said she “might have wanted to strangle” Gio during training.
Recently, a source claimed to The Sun that it took Mr Selfridge star Amanda months to get over her time on Strictly. She quit the competition early and has since reportedly suggested she would be looking into legal action against the Beeb.
While the claims about Giovanni re-emerged this week, another of his former partners shared her love for him instead. Debbie McGee gushed over him on Instagram, and he thanked her for the support.
Later, Giovanni broke his silence on a difficult week on Instagram. He said: “I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who has sent messages of support of the last week – I truly appreciate it – thank you thank you thank you Gio.”
