Oti has been sharing peeks into her new life as a mum. In her latest update, the Dancing on Ice judge got emotional while travelling on the train. She shared a video on her Instagram Story where she had tears in her eyes.
She wrote next to the video: “Looking at myself on the train after I cried because the school near my house held an Easter parade for the kiddies and I already imagined my daughter moving out, going to study in university on another continent because she found out I tracked her on iPhone Find Me and wants independence.”
The mum of one added a crying laughing emoji but also said: “I’m not OK.” Oti also posted the video on her main Instagram page and said: “The hormones are giving,” with her fans and followers quick to share their own stories.
One follower said: “Standard mum behaviour! Goes with the territory! I still do it and my youngest is 23! Hope you’re ok Oti.”
Anothercommented: “Yup, It took me by surprise when it first happened.” A third wrote: “All parents go through this. You are not alone.”
Someone else responded: “Yup cried in the car yesterday thinking about my kids going to uni and not staying with me. Hormone snot cry is real.”
And another added: “It happens to all of us. Welcome to Motherhood. When my daughter left home / Durban for Joburg, l cried my heart out for days. It was her first job and her first time leaving the Nest. Bless you, Oti.”
Oti has previously opened up about her first child’s arrival into the world, explaining that her daughter, whose name hasn’t been shared publicly, was born “prematurely” in October and was put in an incubator with jaundice.
Discussing the difficult birth of her daughter, Oti, who developed sepsis, meaning her daughter – who was born two months early – was at risk of being infected when she was born, said on This Morning last month: “She was in the NICU for about six weeks, she came two months early, which was totally unexpected.
“And actually I gave birth at the UCLH, it was so amazing the NHS and I’ve said this so many times. I don’t usually get sick so I’m never usually in hospital and so I never really have to use the NHS that much but then I really needed them and they were incredible. We were taken care of so much.”
