Strictly Come Dancing’s Tasha Ghouri has revealed that she’s struggling in rehearsals.
The 26-year-old Love Island beauty, who made history as the first deaf star to feature on the hit romance show, has opened up on the “challenges” she’s faced in training so far since being unveiled as part of the stellar 2024 celeb roster last month.
Rocketing to fame on the ITV2 dating show in 2022, the gorgeous model nabbed a spot in the finals alongside her beau, Andrew Le Page, and the couple snagged fourth place amidst fierce competition.
Since her reality TV debut, Tasha’s been a telly fave, nabbing spots on top-notch shows like Countdown and The Weakest Link’s celeb editions. However, shoeing off her moves. on Strictly might just top the lot as she follows in the footsteps of ground-breaking EastEnders star Rose Ayling-Ellis.
Soap star Rose shimmied her way to becoming Strictly’s first deaf champ, scooping up the glitter ball trophy with ace dancer Giovanni Pernice back in 2021. Spilling the tea at the National Television Awards alongside Fake Bake and Press Box PR, Tasha shared some heartfelt words, saying: “It’s a privilege. Rose opened up the door for all of us. She was the first person I really looked up to on TV.”, reports the Mirror.
She continud: “She’s the first person that elevated the deaf community. What’s fantastic is that we’ve really got different experiences with our deafness and what we can bring to the table.”
Getting real about gearing up for the glitz and glam of Strictly, the stunner , who was born deaf, added: “It’s exactly the same for me as Rose, I feel the music, base and the beats. With the counts, that’s where I’m struggling a little bit.”
“What I’m used to is five, six, seven, eight. But the counts are off with the music, so I feel like I’m not in time. I’m having to feel the music and play the sounds in my head. It’s a weird way but that’s how my brain works.”
“All dance styles are hard because they’re so disciplined. For me, Latin is the hardest because it’s so fast. You have to move your feet quickly and I’m trying to keep up, which is tough.”
“It’s super fun but a challenge. The training, trying to push through, it’s hard sometimes. It’s knowing your body and where you are physically and mentally. The opportunity only happens once, so I’m trying to make the most out of it.”
Strictly Come Dancing returns Saturday, September 14 at 7.20pm on BBC One
