This Morning’s Ben Shephard is known for his dashing good looks and impressive journalistic talent.
Back in August, the silver fox, 49, shocked his loyal legion of fans as he showed off his salt and pepper beard. The broadcaster was spotted taking a stroll through Edinburgh as they visited the famous comedy Fringe festival.
During his afternoon walk, the dad-of-two shared his goals and aspirations for the next year ahead as he prepares to celebrate his 50th birthday with a bang at the end of the year. In his thoughtful post, the ITV star asked his fans what they thought of his statement stubble as he walked through the manicured gardens.

He captured the post: “I’m turning 50 in December [shocked emoji] How did that happen?! I’d like to mark it in some way with a challenge but keen to know, what does ‘fit, healthy and happy’ mean to you and has that changed over time? P.s – the beard, grow or no??”
Now, one month on, the daytime host has made the decision to ditch the facial hair before he returns to the small screen later this month. On Sunday night (September 9), the broadcaster divided fans when he decided to shave off his summer beard.
Sharing a clip of himself as he shaved off the look, he tried on a range of other hairstyles including a goatee and a handlebar moustache. He captioned the post: “Ahhh the beard is no more!
“For all of you who voted to get rid of the beard you’ll be delighted that the chin is back in its naked state and ready for hairless action. For all who wanted it to stay, well at least we’ll always have the hairy summer of ‘24 to remember [shrugging emoji, cry-laughing emoji].”
It didn’t take long before his famous friends and adoring fans flooded to the comments to share their thoughts online. Many viewers loved the beard, with one user penning: “I’ve liked the post but honestly I was FOR the beard.”
Another agreed: “I preferred the beard Ben! You didn’t need to give in lol. You looked distinguished.” A third echoed: “Noooo! I loved the beard. It so suited you.”
Meanwhile, others believed the newsreader looks youthful with a clean-shaven face. One user penned: “I think the beard makes you look older, much, much better without [thumbs up emoji].”
Another echoed: “Much better you’ve got such a baby face and with approaching 50 I’d stick with the clean-shaven face [heart emoji].” A third chimed in with: “Much nicer Ben, I wasn’t a fan of the beard.”
Alternatively, others believed the broadcaster looked amazing with and without facial hair. One user argued: “I thought I was for the beard until this but you suit either way” as another added: “Love both Ben our lovely @benshephard [two heart emojis].”
His former co-star Laura Tobin joked: “Tash for me [tongue out emoji]”. Fans will have to stay tuned to see if the TV presenter will change up his look again before he returns to the ITV daytime show.
