Tom Cruise’s horror Mission Impossible accident after stunt went majorly wrong

Tom Cruise caused some horrific damage to his body after a stunt went terribly wrong.

Cruise, 62, is known for his daring stunts in the various action movies that he stars in, including Top Gun and Mission: Impossible. What brings in viewers to watch the films is knowing that Tom himself is doing the stunts, and not a body double on-set.

However, during the filming of one instalment of the Mission Impossible franchise, it was revealed that Tom felt the dark side of doing his own stunts. This is due to the fact that a mishap during filming saw his ankle being broken, with the shot being caught on film.

In August of 2017, Tom was filming the latest edition of Mission: Impossible in London. The film, titled Mission Impossible – Fallout, starred a slew of major actors including Henry Cavill, Simon Pegg and Angela Bassett.

During the filming of one scene, Cruise was engaged in a hot pursuit as the drama of the film began to ramp up. This included a foot pursuit, with Tom – as his character Ethan Hunt – chasing after Henry Cavill’s character August Walker.

As part of the filming, Tom was expected to jump across a building, catch himself on the edge of the building and hoist himself up. However, as he jumped across the gap of the buildings, his foot slammed into the building, almost shattering his ankle.

Speaking about the incident on The Graham Norton Show soon afterwards, Tom said: “It’s still broken, but I’m doing well. I mean, it’s not fully healed but we’re shooting [the film].”

Expressing his concern for the actor’s ankle, he called on Cruise to take a rest due to his “nuts” decision to carry on filming. However, Tom hit back, saying: “Well, we have a release date, so we’ve got to keep going.”

After he watched the footage of the ankle snap happen in real time, Tom laughed as he admitted he was not going to reshoot the scene. “I didn’t want to do it again, I knew instantly that it was broken,” he said.

“I ran past the camera, we got the shot,” he continued. “It’s in the movie, those profile shots – both shots are in the movie.”

The final version of the film did in fact include the footage of Tom’s horror accident on set; however, it was clear that Cruise was happy for the shot to be used. Fellow actor Simon Pegg added that when he hopped out of shot, his co-stars joked: “Oh, that’s so him.

“To complete the shot with your foot hanging off? That’s just so him,” he quipped. Cruise added: “I just wanted to sit guys, sorry it’s broken – take me to the hospital.”

SERIOUSLY, YOU’VE BEEN WARNED: This footage is gross… but we know you’ll watch anyway
