BBC Radio 1 presenters and podcast favourites Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo have announced they’re expecting their first child together, thrilling their fans with the news.

The former Made In Chelsea couple shared an Instagram video for the big reveal, which shows Sophie getting an ultrasound. As the image of the baby appears on screen, Jamie can’t contain his excitement, exclaiming: “Are you kidding me”. The camera then captures Sophie beaming with joy as they listen to the baby’s heartbeat for the first time.

From reality TV to radio stardom, Jamie and Sophie’s relationship has been a journey admired by many. Their love story was first broadcast on Made in Chelsea and has since grown into a professional partnership involving a hit podcast, BBC Radio 1 hosting roles, and their own production company.

Their romantic narrative started on Made in Chelsea, allowing fans to witness their relationship develop. After several years of dating, Jamie proposed at the Rosewood London hotel in December 2021 – a significant place where they had their initial date, reports the Mirror.

The proposal was nothing short of magical, with Jamie transforming one of the hotel’s opulent suites with roses and candles. Handwritten notes, filled with heartfelt messages, were laid out in envelopes across the floor.

The pair tied the knot in an intimate civil ceremony in London in April 2023. They then celebrated their union with a massive party in Marbella the following May, joined by 200 friends and family members.

In March 2022, the couple spoke candidly about their experience leading up to their big day in their podcast NearlyWeds, which has since been renamed NewlyWeds following their nuptials – a roaring success among their followers. However, they’ve recently paused the beloved weekly episodes, announcing they’re taking “a little break”.

Celebrations are in order, as friends and fans are overjoyed for the duo’s delightful baby announcement, flooding them with congratulations and best wishes for their journey into parenthood.

Made in Chelsea’s Emily Blackwell couldn’t contain her excitement, commenting: “Best news ever, so excited for you guys,” while Love Island favourite Molly-Mae sent her joy across social media: “Congratulations guys!” Sophie’s sister, Georgia Habboo, is eager for the new role in her life, exclaiming: “I can’t wait to be an auntie!!” Meanwhile, a fan chimed in with the cheer, penning: “Congratulations, you guys will be the most amazing parents!”
