EXCLUSIVE: The survival expert has been promoting the benefits of drinking urine on his shows for years and has convinced a number of famous celebs – including model Vogue Williams and actress Emilia Fox – to try it
Bear Grylls is regularly offered a glass of wee when he heads to the boozer.
He’s been promoting the benefits of drinking it on his survival shows for years, so his fans like to take the pee.
Bear told the Daily Star Sunday: “I get people coming up to me in bars and joking about it. On the rare occasion when I’m in one, someone will ask me, ‘Do you want a pint of urine? Do you want a pint of p***? I just say, ‘No thanks! ’”
While Bear is famed for drinking his wee, he insists it’s not something he actually enjoys doing.
He added: “I’ve had to do it in the name of survival quite a few times. I’m not one of these people who does it all the time.
“There are people like that out there, but I am not one of those.”
He’s supped his own wee many times on TV.
Bear has also convinced lots of celebs to do the same, such as model Vogue Williams and actress Emilia Fox.
He said: “There are worse things to be known for – it’s been a part of my life.”
The star of Netflix ’s new reality series, Celebrity Bear Hunt – which sees 12 celebrities attempt to evade the survival expert in the Costa Rican jungle – has recently praised his co-host, Holly Willoughby as being a ‘key part’ of the show.
He said: “Holly’s such a key part of this, not only for them, but also for me.
“You were a light and love and empathy to all of these people, you were the yin to my yang.
“Holly was a dream, I’ve never really worked with anyone else like that before.”
He added: “She’s just gentle, heart led. She was nervous, she was in at the deep end,” and admitted that she had been nervous but had risen to the challenge.”
While Holly described the praise as a “bit embarrassing” she also reciprocated describing him as “inspiring”.
She said: “Bear can get anybody to do anything, you’re very inspiring.”
