David Beckham was reportedly “heartbroken” when son Brooklyn didn’t turn up for his 50th birthday dinner and it’s now claimed he fears “history is repeating itself”
David Beckham reportedly fears he’s lost his eldest son Brooklyn “forever”.
The football legend celebrated his 50th birthday at the weekend with a fancy meal at the Core restaurant in Notting Hill, but Brooklyn, 26, failed to show up at the dinner. It comes following claims of a sad rift between Brooklyn and his family.
David is said to have been left “heartbroken” by Brooklyn not turning up and reportedly hopes things between him and the aspiring chef “can be patched up soon”. It’s now alleged David and the family fear “history is repeating itself” after David fell out with his father Ted in 2005.
The former United ace now enjoys a close relationship with Ted, 77, but the pair were once not on speaking terms. It was when Ted suffered a near-fatal health scare in 2007 that they made amends.
Friends close to the family say David and the family now fear “history is repeating itself” with regards to their relationship with Brooklyn. An alleged friend of David told The Sun: “David and the family genuinely fear Brooklyn could be lost to them forever.
“The word ‘lost’, here, is especially poignant as it was the exact sentiment used when David fell out with his dad. Ted believed his son would never speak to him again, and he was heartbroken. It was an extremely tense few years, and devastated the whole family.”
David sent a heartfelt public message to Brooklyn after his eldest didn’t attend his 50th birthday meal. He took to Instagram to share some snaps of a fishing trip in Scotland, planned months in advance as part of his 50th birthday celebrations.
The footballer posed on a boat with his other two sons Romeo, 22, and Cruz, 20. The caption read: “Fun times in Scotland”. Addressing Brooklyn in what appeared to be an olive branch, David added: “You were missed @brooklynpeltzbeckham”.
It’s alleged David was “heartbroken” that Brooklyn didn’t attend his birthday meal over the weekend. A source told The Sun: “David is heartbroken but putting a brave face on it. Tonight is all about celebration and love, and he is swimming in it.
“Brooklyn actually informed his parents a while ago that he and his wife, Nicola, would not be attending but, of course, David and Victoria desperately hoped he would change his mind. Brooklyn is a really sweet boy and everyone loves him dearly. They just hope things can be patched up soon.
The source added: “In the mean time, everyone around David are doing all they can to give him a magical evening to remember.”
Brooklyn and wife Nicola had reportedly cancelled their plans to attend the 2025 Met Gala in order to make David’s birthday meal. However, they ended up missing both events.
It’s said the pair also failed to attend David’s other birthday celebrations at their £10 million Cotswolds home and in France, which saw the Beckham clan go wine tasting at a vineyard before having dinner at David’s favourite Parisian restaurant.
It’s claimed there’s tension between Brooklyn and Romeo over Romeo’s new girlfriend Kim, who allegedly used to date Brooklyn. And Brooklyn, it’s alleged, feels dad David has effectively ‘chosen Romeo and Kim over him’.
A source close to Brooklyn told The Sun: “He flew to London with the sole intention of seeing his family and celebrating his dad’s birthday.
“He suggested going for breakfast or a coffee but was told the only chance to see the family would be at one of their lavish parties which Kim would likely be at, so he refused. As far as he sees it, his parents have chosen Romeo and his new girlfriend over him.”
Another source shut down these claims and said Brooklyn had sent his dad a text but it “felt like box-ticking”.
