Former EastEnders star Michelle Ryan has shown her still youthful looks – 20 years after leaving the show.

Michelle – who played Zoe Slater – posted a bare-faced picture update just after she’d gone for a run and appeared to be ageing backwards. The glowy actress admitted she’d even taken to cutting her own hair to maintain her effortless appearance with the help of a YouTube tutorial.

Michelle has pretty much vanished from our screens over the last two decades after leaving the soap in 2005 – the same year she was ranked fourth in FHM’s 100 sexiest women.

Known for playing Kat Slater’s secret daughter, Michelle’s character had a chain of flings on the show, with an engagement to Anthony Trueman and relationships with Dennis Rickman and Dirty Den.

Slater even shared an iconic kiss with best friend Kelly Taylor after the pair found themselves stranded on New Year’s Eve in 2003.

The emotional scene was criticised at the time, but was defended by Taylor’s actress Brooke Kinsella, who told the Daily Post: “It’s not a gratuitous ratings getting move, it’s not some kind of big lesbian kiss. It’s the way two best friends who have a lot of love for each other show their emotions.”

But Michelle admitted she’d “got quite bored” of playing Zoe, and that she saw her role in EastEnders as an apprenticeship.

She told the Daily Record: “I have some really good friends from that show but the door is closed.”

Since starring in the soap the fresh-faced actress has featured in several independent films, including 4.3. 2.1. and Cockneys vs Zombies, alongside appearances in BBC shows like Merlin, Doctor Who and Death in Paradise.
