Jessie J has shared a heart-wrenching update with her fans after undergoing surgery following her breast cancer diagnosis.
The singer, who recently revealed she had been diagnosed with “early breast cancer”, took to Instagram to share a candid post about her experience.
The post included a series of photos and videos from the past 48 hours, showcasing both the highs and lows of her journey. In one emotional video, Jessie broke down in tears as she struggled to cope with the aftermath of her surgery.
Alongside the post, Jessie wrote: “Blood warning. This post is some of the honest lows and highs of the last 48 hours. I will always show the good and hard bits of any journey I go through.”
She expressed her gratitude to her medical team, family, and friends who visited her, adding that she is now at home resting and awaiting her test results. Jessie’s partner, Chanan, was also by her side, with the singer joking that he was dressed in a nurse’s outfit – although he wasn’t.
Jessie also took the opportunity to send a message of support to others going through tough times, saying: “Still hugging everyone going through something tough right now. We all got this!”
Just a couple of weekends ago, Jessie performed at the Summertime Ball, where she told the 80,000-strong crowd that it would be her last show before undergoing surgery. During the emotional performance, the Mirror reported that she said: “Today, this show is my last show before I go to beat breast cancer! So it’s so special to me you have no idea. I feel so special to be from the UK, to be an honest person and say how you feel.
“This is my last show before go treatment and all the things It’s the most special thing and I’m so grateful for this life, for you guys, for my career, to my, my son. My partner, my parents. My family, my band, my crew.”
She continued: “We are so lucky, we have so much to live for, so much joy, so much, so many things to do.”
Jessie shared her diagnosis in an emotional video to her followers. She disclosed: “I was diagnosed with early breast cancer. Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding on to the word ‘early’.
“It’s a very dramatic way to get a boob job. I am going to disappear for a bit after Summertime Ball to have my surgery, and I will come back with massive tits and more music. I just wanted to be open and share it.”
She went on to say: “One, because, selfishly, I do not talk about it enough. I’m not processing it because I’m working so hard. I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories.
“I’m an open book. It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much similar and worse-that’s the bit that kills me.. The timing of it has been mad but also beautiful and given me this incredible perspective in this time. But honestly I need to process it and talk about it and, I need a hug. You have loved me through all my good and hard times. And I don’t want this to be any different.”
