JoJo Siwa explained what she had written on Chris Hughes hand in the Celebrity Big Brother bedroom after they were punished for breaking the rules
JoJo Siwa has opened up about her gender identity after her secret hand message for Chris Hughes was exposed by Big Brother.
The duo had been talking in the Celebrity Big Brother bedroom, when Dance Moms star JoJo wrote a message on Chris’ hand with her finger. Fans were immediately trying to figure out what she’d said, after hearing her say: “It makes sense.”
In Tuesday night’s episode, the duo were quizzed about the incident, and it was then that JoJo made the brave decision to open up about how she was really feeling.
The 21-year-old said: “It’s something that I’m not ready necessarily to be open about or upfront about but it has to do with gender and how do I feel.”
The Karma singer went on: “Let’s put it this way. Oh my God, this is a lot.
“Essentially, you have female, you have male. I’ve met a lot of females and love them but don’t feel like I’m them. Met a lot of males, love them but definitely not them.
“I’ve met a lot of people in my life that are non-binary and these beautiful non-binary people are who I feel the most like.
“It’s not something that I want to say about myself yet but it’s something that is confusing.
“So, that’s probably why we were talking about it last night.”
Big Brother responded: “JoJo, thank you for being so honest and sharing with Big Brother.”
The performer replied: “Of course. It’s important to be honest and I think it’s important to show that it’s ok to not know.”
Love Island star Chris said: “That was good. Good job.”
JoJo, who previously came out as lesbian, is in a relationship with her non-binary partner Kath Ebbs, who lives in Australia.
Her relationship and sexuality was the target of axed housemate Mickey Rourke’s comments earlier in the series, when he referred to JoJo as “the lesbian” and told her she “wouldn’t be gay” if he was in the house longer.
Following her Diary Room telling off, JoJo opened up to her co-stars about what she’d said in there too.
Viewers were full of praise for the star for her honesty.
One said on X: “JoJo you are loved and you are valid. It really is that simple.”
Another said: “Fair play to JoJo for discussing a sensitive topic like this on reality TV. That took some bravery.”
A third added: “Absolutely love JoJo, such an incredible person and it’s honestly so brave to share that, my winner.”
