Former Eagles guitarist Don Felder, 77, suffered a medical emergency while performing on stage and had to be escorted off to receive treatment in worrying scenes
Former Eagles guitarist Don Felder had to be rushed off stage due to to a medical emergency.
It’s been a tough start to 2025 for rockers – Travis frontman Fran Healy had to be rushed to the hospital after a nasty injury, and Bryan Adams had to cancel his gig due to a huge sewer blockage. Black Sabbath fans will be buzzing though as Ozzy, despite his Parkinson’s battle, will be performing for one last time.
Don Felder, 77, had to be removed from stage to get medical treatment on Thursday (February 13) while playing the band’s hit Tequila Sunrise on the Rock Legends cruise, currently sailing from Miami to CocoCay in the Bahamas. The musician had just started playing the song before he stopped strumming and appeared to lose his balance.
Scenes caught by the Travel The World YoutTube channel showed a crew member rush over to help the star as he held onto the microphone. He was seen swaying as he was escorted offstage with his bandmates as concerned fans in the audience went quiet before shouting words of support – one fan cried out: “We love you Don”.
On Friday, Don’s team revealed the rocker had been suffering from dehydration. They confirmed the star had received medical support and was now feeling “much better,”. A statement read: “We appreciate everyone’s concern regarding Don Felder’s abrupt stop to his show last night on the Rock Legends Cruise.
“After receiving medical attention, he was deemed to be suffering from dehydration. He was given fluids and is feeling much better. To ensure he has ample time to rehydrate and recover fully, we are working on rescheduling today’s shows and adjusting the remainder of the cruise schedule accordingly.”
They thanked fans for their concerns and told them to remember to “drink your water”. His manager also explained Don would be in “quarantine” and plans were being made for him to play again.
They added :”By medical rules of the cruise, he’ll be in quarantine for the next 24 hours to rest. Arrangements are being made for him to play on Saturday and Sunday.”
The Rock Legends Cruise runs until February 17 but Felder has a several other performances lined up in March and April. He is set to hit the road for a nationwide tour with Styx and Kevin Cronin in May.
Don was the lead guitarist of the Eagles between 1974 and 2001. However, he left the band after a huge falling out with co-lead singer and frontman Glenn Frey and Don Henley over money and creative control.
