One iconic Love Island couple has announced that they are engaged, just over a year after they crossed paths on the ITV2 dating show and fans can’t believe the happy news
A Love Island couple are engaged just a year after meeting.
ITV dating show stars Uma Jammeh and Wil Anderson recently took to social media to share that they were “sitting on bad boy piece of information” and announced their exciting news.
Uma broke the news on her Instagram account, posting a diamond ring emoji and showing off her new bling in gorgeous holiday photos. Wil wasn’t featured in the pictures but he made a playful Beyonce reference in the comments, stating: “I liked it so I put a ring on it.”
Uma responded: “Period,” and Wil later shared a photo of the couple toasting to their engagement with the caption: “Cheers to that.”
Fans and followers were quick to congratulate the couple and former Islander Mimmi Tafara couldn’t hold back her excitement: “AHHHHHHHH! CONGRATULATIONS OMG,” reports the Mirror.
Uma responded: “@mimiitafara thankyou my sister,” with a series of emojis, including pink love hearts. “Part of our journey from the start to the end.”
Last July after being evicted from the villa, Wil confessed he felt he was leaving the show with a girlfriend – and their relationship has only grown stronger since. He reflected on his exit interview: “It went so well, but then obviously Casa came.
“I felt like I owed it to myself to explore, doing that caused a few issues but it made me realise I wanted a future with Uma.”
He went on to say: “Coming back to the Villa wasn’t exactly easy and from then on it was about proving to her how I really felt. I feel like I tried to prove it in as many ways I could. I feel like what I did and said to her was enough for her to end her journey with me.”
Adding further, he said: “It makes me feel amazing, I couldn’t be happier with the outcome to be honest. I’ve been in there for three and a half weeks and I’ve left with a girlfriend pretty much.”
Uma decided to leave the show with Wil. A few weeks after their departure, they shared an update on their living situation after they decided to move in together.
