Love Island bosses have been left scrambling as the villa in Mallorca is said to be behind schedule, sparking fears that the show could be pushed back from its usual June start date
ITV Love Island fans might need to hang tight a bit longer for the return of their beloved summer fling, as it’s said that the familiar Mallorcan villa isn’t exactly ready to roll.
Although new host Maya Jama is raring to go and glam as ever, the sizzling villa meant to welcome this year’s batch of Love Island lovelies is reportedly still a building site, with word on the street claiming the location could be bogged down by up to ten days delay.
A source told The Sun: “It’s always a quick turnaround to sprinkle the Love Island magic on the Villa, which is a regular holiday let the rest of the year. But the schedule has gone awry this year and it’s looking like production is as much as ten days behind schedule. Everyone is working around the clock.”
This hold-up has set tongues wagging on social media, fuelling rumours that the debut could be shoved back. The hit dating show typically struts back onto screens a week following the May Bank Holiday, targeting Monday, June 2, for the premiere.
Whispers among fans hints at the kick-off being deferred to June 9, since no concrete dates are out and there’s scarce promo buzz, reports the Mirror.
In spite of the hiccup, Maya Jama’s keeping the anticipation for the fresh season at fever pitch. Flaunting a teaser video recently dropped, the glitzy presenter is spotted in a mock office setup, decked in a smart outfit with a backdrop of clocks showing off times across various Spanish locations.
In the trailer, Maya states: “To the hottie this may concern, as per the last 11 series we’re staying loyal to the entertainment and levelling up the twists. The stakeholders are aligned, the Islanders will be laying it on Factor 50, and we’re on track to hit our KPI on drama. It’s time to crack on and deliver serious results. Let’s circle back soon. Warmest wishes.”
She adds: “This year I want more drama, more bombshells, more break-ups, more make-ups. I want more twists. I want more twists than ever.”
While ITV is keeping contestant details hush-hush, two names have already surfaced – 6’5″ London-based personal trainer Aaron Beckett, and 20 year old makeup artist Lucy Quinn from Liverpool.”
Beckett has already amassed a significant following on Instagram and TikTok due to his impressive gym routines. A source told the Sun: “It’s a fact of life that girls go crazy for a tall lad and Aaron is a man mountain. He’s got great chat too.”
Whether he’ll join the original line-up or enter later as a bombshell remains unknown. Meanwhile, Lucy has been given the task of luring men away from their partners in Casa Amor.
She is reportedly a glamorous girl with a fiery personality.
An insider told MailOnline: “Lucy is single and ready to mingle. She can’t wait to enter the Love Island villa and is counting down the days until it becomes a reality.”
